The Employment Law Practice Group at Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP provides a complete range of services in this area, from preventative counseling and advice to aggressive defense of employment-related lawsuits. The Group's practice focuses on representation of employers although we will consider representing individuals on selective basis so long as doing so presents no conflict with the management orientation of our practice.
Our employment attorneys have substantial experience defending discrimination claims of all types, sexual and other harassment claims, and claims of unlawful retaliation, whether brought under federal or state law. Our experience extends to whistleblower claims, contract claims, and other wrongful discharge claims, actions brought under the Family and Medical Leave Act, wage and hour matters, and, in the case of public sector clients, proceedings before the Public Employment Relations Commission and contract negotiations. Over the years, we have also handled numerous lawsuits involving enforcement of restrictive covenants and confidentiality agreements. The Employment Law Practice Group is fully supported by our Litigation Department, one of the state's largest.
A significant part of our Group's practice involves preventative lawyering. We provide counsel and assistance with regard to employment practices and policies before implementation and to ensure legal compliance and avoid litigation. In this regard, we are available to conduct in-house training on the subject of sexual harassment, as well as other aspects of employment law, to assist with or conduct internal investigations of harassment or other complaints, to assist with the development and revision of employee manuals and policies, and to negotiate and draft employment agreements, restrictive covenant and confidentiality agreements, and employee termination and severance agreements.
Complementing the Employment Law Practice Group is our Employee Benefits Practice Group, which provides specialized services in the employee benefits area. Our employee benefits attorneys assist in the design and implementation of qualified and non-qualified retirement and compensation arrangements, including equity and non-equity based compensation arrangements, 401(k) and stock option plans, and deferred compensation arrangements, and provide advice and counsel on executive compensation agreements, on fiduciary issues under ERISA, and on matters pertaining to the design and operation of a variety of health and welfare plans, and related tax issues.
