Nancy Isaacson and Lawrence P. Maher, partners in the firm’s Litigation Department, are on the faculty for the “Annual AAML-NJ Forum: Securing Payment in Matrimonial Settlements.” The program will be presented by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, in cooperation with the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, New Jersey Chapter (AAML-NJ) and the New Jersey State Bar Association Senior Lawyers Special Committee, on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 9:00am – 12:35pm at the New Jersey Law Center.
This annual conference presents a discussion of the techniques used by many of New Jersey’s leading matrimonial lawyers to secure ongoing matrimonial obligations. Topics to be addressed will include the utilization of life insurance, security interest and liens, and bankruptcy considerations.
Ms. Isaacson focuses her practice in bankruptcy and insolvency, with an emphasis on trustee and creditor rights law. She serves as a Chapter 7 trustee for debtors in federal bankruptcy proceedings, and has represented appellants in cases before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. She has achieved a national profile in her area of practice through her involvement in a number of large bankruptcy matters representing tort claimants and landlords. She is an approved mediator for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of New Jersey. She is a member of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring Practice Group.
Mr. Maher's practice focuses on banking law and regulation, creditors’ rights, commercial law and related litigation. He has extensive experience in the representation of banks, leasing companies, mortgagees, landlords, small businesses, real estate investors and other lenders and creditors in connection with loan transactions, enforcement actions, the restructuring and workout of troubled loans, repossessions, complex foreclosure and bankruptcy matters, Uniform Commercial Code issues, and advising commercial creditors on debt collection strategies.
