Live Webinar
1:00pm – 2:05pm

Steven Nudelman, Chair of the firm’s Construction Contracting & Risk Management Practice Group, will lecture on “Editing AIA Documents” at a live webinar to be presented by Lorman Education Services on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 1:00pm – 2:05pm.

This program will provide an overview of the AIA families of contract documents, providing a ‘deeper dive’ into editing the most common owner / contractor forms (A101-2017 and A201-2017) from the perspectives of the owner and contractor. Since many of the clauses in these forms appear in other AIA contracts, the discussion should also be helpful to construction managers, subcontractors, and design professionals. In addition, since many of the revisions to the A101 and A201 flow down to subcontractors, any revisions to these forms’ standard clauses are of particular importance to subcontractors (regardless of their ability to modify such clauses as nonparties to the general contract). Finally, the topic will examine contract clauses that affect everyone, such as insurance, indemnification, limitation of liability, instruments of service, and dispute resolution. Clauses on these topics may appear in multiple contracts so that we will address potential edits from the vantage points of the different players on the construction project.

The full agenda for this presentation is as follows:

Mr. Nudelman is a partner in the firm’s Litigation and Real Estate Departments, concentrating his practice in construction law. For over 25 years he has represented members of the construction industry across a broad spectrum of matters. On the transactional side, Mr. Nudelman works with owners and developers, construction managers, general contractors, subcontractors and design professionals to prepare and negotiate contract documents for construction in the New Jersey and New York metropolitan area. His construction contracting work helps his clients manage the risk inherent in construction projects so they may adequately protect their interests now to avoid claims and disputes in the future. When claims and disputes are unavoidable, Mr. Nudelman draws upon his wide-ranging experience in construction litigation, representing clients in state and federal courts throughout the New Jersey/New York metropolitan area, as well as in local and international mediations and arbitrations.
