Michael K. Feinberg, a partner in the firm’s Tax, Trusts & Estates Department, will be a speaker at an Ethics/Elder Law CLE Breakfast on the topic of “Ethical Issues Presented by Aging & Disabled Clients and How to Avoid Them” on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 8:00am. The program will be held at the Bar’s offices in New Brunswick.
The seminar will provide an overview of the ethical issues non-elder law attorneys may face when dealing with aging and disabled clients. The program will include a review of the rules of professional conduct related to clients’ disability, competence and diligence, the dangers of improperly drafted power of attorneys, elder law issues for matrimonial lawyers, and an overview of government benefits including Veterans Aid & Attendance and Medicaid.
Mr. Feinberg's practice focuses on estate planning, estate administration, wills and trusts, tax and business planning for individuals, corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies, and tax controversies. In the niche area of elder law, he guides clients through the challenges associated with planning for nursing home or other long term care needs, guardianship issues, and the facilitation of a client’s eligibility for Medicaid and related government programs and benefits.
