Tamires M. Oliveira, an associate in the firm’s Family Law Department, will be a panelist for a presentation on “The Interplay Between Women's Rights, Domestic Violence, and the Second Amendment” at the Hispanic National Bar Association Annual Convention in Washington, DC. The program is scheduled for Friday, September 6, 2024, from 2:15pm – 3:30pm.
Pending before U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) is a case that would regulate the second amendment. If SCOTUS upholds the provisions of the Violence Against Women's Act, there would be a strict understanding that the second amendment may be regulated. The decision is still pending before the court. This panel will discuss this potential development, with a particular focus on its impact on survivors of domestic violence.
Ms. Oliveira, a member of the HNBA, assists in the firm's representation of clients in the area of family law.
