Dennis A. Estis, Chair of the Construction Law Practice Group at Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP in Woodbridge, NJ, has been named as the “Best Lawyers Construction Lawyer of the Year” for 2010 by Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer review publication in the legal profession. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as the “Lawyer of the Year." Estis is the only attorney to receive this designation in construction in the State of New Jersey.

Mr. Estis is a partner in the Litigation Department of the firm and focuses his practice on complex litigation, particularly related to construction, condominiums, business disputes, real estate and alternative dispute resolution.

Mr. Estis has served as counsel to numerous developers, condominiums and cooperatives, several New Jersey municipalities, one of the major sewerage authorities in the state and a private school. He served as lead counsel for more than 100 developers involved in numerous law suits related to fire retardant treated (FRT) plywood. He spearheaded efforts to obtain greater funding for replacement of FRT plywood and he served as lead public entity counsel in the largest landfill case ever conducted in Middlesex County, New Jersey.

Mr. Estis is a Charter Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and is listed in both The International Who’s Who of Construction Lawyers and The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers. He received the David Pavlovsky “Service to the Bar” Award from the Middlesex County Bar Association where he is the past president. Mr. Estis is the past chair of the Construction Litigation Committee of the Section of Litigation, and a member of the Forum on the Construction Industry of the American Bar Association.

Mr. Estis is co-author of New Jersey Condominium and Community Association Law, published by Gann Law Books and of the New Jersey Chapter of CPI Lien Law Online, Construction Publications, Inc. He is the author of “Defending the Developer,” Chapter 8 of Condominium and Homeowner Litigation, published by John Wiley & Sons.
